Abstract : Communication skills are one of the six competencies defined and required by the Accreditattion Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). After a brief review of the current liteerature, short and longer vignettes will be projected to demonstrate its use for both teaching as well as assessment. Issues related to case construction, checklists, reliability, validity and generalizability will be discussed.
