Abstract : The basic purpose of this study is to analyze and measure the degree of openness of private companies in Jordan. Organizational openness is a multidimensional concept which can be measured through variety of criteria. Data have been collected by means of questionnaire specially designed for this study. Questionnaires have been distributed to (95) companies with (100%) response rate. The study revealed some problems related to organizational openness of private companies in Jordan. Among major problems are low participation, lack of motivation, instability and high competition between companies in similar fields of activity. Major conclusions of this study include. a. Companies included in the study vary in their degree of openness both internally and externally. b. The need for marketing activities exists. c. Confidence exists in investment climate in Jordan. d. Companies surveyed provide certain services to their environment. e. Existence of positive impact of free trade on these companies. Study recommendations include. a. Support of positive interaction and openness between companies and their environment. b. Development of management systems and methods. c. Encouragement of research and field studies on organizational openness.
